1. What this tool does
PDF Cleanse removes metadata from PDF files entirely within your browser using a four-stage process: Info dictionary, XMP packets, document ID fingerprints, and PieceInfo streams. No file data is transmitted to any server at any point. Processing happens entirely on your device.
2. No legal advice
PDF Cleanse is a technical utility, not a legal service. Using this tool does not constitute legal advice and does not guarantee compliance with any law, regulation, or professional obligation including GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, SRA rules, or FOIA requirements. You remain solely responsible for determining whether metadata removal is appropriate for your situation and whether additional steps are required.
3. Provided as-is
This tool is provided without warranty of any kind. While we take care to strip all known metadata layers, we cannot guarantee that every form of embedded data is removed from every PDF. Always verify the output in Adobe Acrobat → File → Properties before sharing sensitive documents. The audit certificate records what was processed but is not a legal guarantee of completeness.
4. Your responsibility
You are solely responsible for the documents you process and the decisions you make with the output. PDF Cleanse accepts no liability for any loss, breach, or legal consequence arising from use of this tool.
5. No data collected
We do not collect, store, or process any personal data. No cookies are set. No analytics are loaded. The tool functions entirely offline once the page has loaded. Your files and their contents are never accessible to us.
